Several Improvements Made For Narragansett Meeting PAWTUCKET, R. I., June 18.— For the 24-day summer meeting opening Monday, June 29, Narragansett Park offers many improvements and innovations. Mark Lin-enthal, the engineer who converted acres of barren land into luxurious Narragansett Park in. record time back in 1934, once more has planned and supervised the architectural expansion program. Dismantling of the officials stand that stood in front of the grandstand, and transferring of the stewards and placing judges to new. quarters atop the grandstand, directly at the finish line, is a change that will be heartily welcomed. Not only will this improvement provide for better vision by the racing officials, but also provides an unobstructed view of finishes to the patrons. ■ Switching of the track announcers booth, previously located above the press box, to more suitable quarters directly above the officials stand, will provide improved working conditions for the stewards and announcer, resulting in speedier relaying of results and other pertinent information to the general public. The modern glass-windowed structure, providing protection in bad weather, gives a clearer view, assuring an accurate on-the-spot calling of the entire race. Placed directly above the stewards in the new photo finish camera room. This, too, will result in a speeding-up of deciding and posting all photo finishes. The old camera booth, high above the grandstand, has been demolished. The introducing of the film patrol at the summer meeting is another important development. The film patrol requires nine men for its operation.
