Triumphant Gains Honors ; Through Disqualification Drop Sun Jeep to Second Place After Running First at Suffolk By AVERY BROWN Staff Correspondent SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., : June. 18.— Henry Forrests Triumphant fin- : ished a nose behind E. A. Simpsons Sun • Jeep in the featured seventh race here today but was elevated to first position after ; the stewards received a claim of foul lodged by Harold "Red" Keene and waited to view the pictures of the race. A neck back of the battling pair, M. Wilsons Pheasant Boy was third in the six-horse field, which contested the mile and a sixteenth event. Nine thousand, five hundred and forty-eight patrons waited patiently for the decision of the stewards, which took approximately 12 minutes. Earlier in the day, Keene, who finished second astride the favored Navy Lord, in the opener, had lodged a claim of foul against the winner, Mona Lou, but after a dozen minutes the original finish of that race was declared official. Go Go Go, who was scratched from yesterdays Yankee Handicap in favor of todays shorter event, assumed the early lead, followed closely by Triumphant. Sun Jeep was third down the backstretch and two k : lengths off the leader. Keene sent Trium- c : phant into a comfortable lead nearing the £ final quarter mile, but apprentice William £ Walsh had plenty of horse under him and sent Sun Jeep through along the rail to ? draw on even terms for command soon after the final furlong marker was passed. J The inexperienced youngster was unable to keep the Simpson gelding on a straight * course and as he went to draw his whip 8 Sun Jeep came out toward the tiring Tri- v umphant and the lad had to delay using 8 the bat. After a brief brushing, Sun Jeep edged away to take the decision. The elevation of Triumphant into the winners spot gave the form players their first success of the afternoon.
