BARBOURSVILLE outsprinted his rivals into the first turn to assume a commanding early advantage, and increased his margin thereafter not withstanding that his rider lost his right iron during the late stages. IMP IN ROMPERS was unable to seriously threaten the winner when briskly ridden through the final furlong, but easily prevailed over the others. BLEECKER MAIL raced in nearest pursuit of the leader to the furlong marker, but faltered when punished. PRIAMS SPECIAL failed to respond when set down for the final test. W00DFELL0W was unable to kep up. ELIHO moved up menacingly entering the stretch, then weakened. OMAHA FAIR and AIR LEVEL were outrun. JEDGAR quit Scratched 87449 Parlance, 119. TIDEWATER held sway to the stretch under steady rating and maintained a lengthy advantage thereafter without urging. APPLIANCE was within striking distance early, lugged, in slightly during the stretch run and was unable to endanger the top one. ROMANIUM failed to make up appreciable ground when subjected to brisk urging. HALCYON BIRD, forced to take up slightly while tiring during the stretch run, failed to recover. NEW FLAVOR, much used early, had nothing left STRAIGHT ARGO tried to drift out through most of the trip. ACE BATTLE was outrun, as was DONEGAL MISS. MAIN DISH raced wide. DARK HORSE never threatened. BLANDYSTONE, permitted to settle into best stride, was sent into closer contention nearing the final fence, and after bumping slightly with BANNER WAVES during the stretch run, outgamed the latter in the concluding stride. BANNER WAVES, never far back, was forced to take up sharply when impeded by BASALT at the last jump, recovered readily only to collide with the winner immediately thereafter, but held on tenaciously in a sharp effort. RENO SAM finished with good energy when hard ridden through the late stages. BEN TALLY-HO bobbled badly on the twelfth obstacle and failed to sufficiently recover. TERREBONNE worked his way forward to attain a contending position after being straightened for the drive, was unable to reach the leader, but easily bested the others. MENEMSHA raced closest to the winner for five furlongs, then faltered. WAY THORN had no apparent mishap. BERTIE raced wide. BUSY BLUES quit. ALTERNATIVE never was formidable. The latter held sway to the final turn while on the outside of the winner, lost command thereafter, but appeared to be coming again slightly during the concluding strides. G. R. PETERSEN raced evenly from the three-furlong marker to the stands without mishap. BEGORRA, slugish to begin, lacked the necessary rally. SANDTOP never was dangerous. NO SCORE, was outrun.
