ACEFULL, never far back, forged to the front while racing on the outside on the final turn, bore in repeatedly during the early stretch run, impeding PUTNEY, then gradually drew out in the concluding strides. ACEFULL was disqualified for fouling and placed last. PUTNEY, always within striking distance, was between ACEFULL and NEVERSINK nearing the furlong marker, and was forced to take up slightly when bumped on two occasions by the latter inside the stretch, and was unable to be sternly persevered with thereafter. REQUISITION avoided the jam entering the stretch and closed resolutely. NEVERSINK held sway for a half mile while saving ground, was in close quarters while con- tinuing on the rail during the drive and was unable to regain command. MARKET LEVEL dropped back imme-diately after the start. PACIFIC OCEAN quit. LA PEROUSE was outrun. " EIGHTH RACE 1 MILE out of chute. Gallorette, Aug. 4, 1947 1:35 5 112. Purse ,000. PRINCESS ROSE, unhurried when outrun early, came out for the drive and after taking command won going away. KINGS DAISY maintained a clear lead at the furlong marker, then held on gamely thereafter, though she returned in a decidedly lame condition. GALLIES PRIDE, forced to take up sharply during the run down the backstretch, recovered readily to regain a contending position on the final turn, but tired as a result of her early efforts.
