Mundys homebred Mani-pur gelding, Friendly Man, ridden by Bill Carstens, made every pole a winning one in the featured Eagles Purse here this afternoon. Friendly Man was a length and one half to the good of Teenabee at the end of the six furlongs, while Rubio was third, a length and three-quarters in arrears. The time was 1:13 and the winner paid 3.60. It was another hot day here in Northern Ohio and a crowd of 5,648 turned out to view the proceedings, which saw one favorite tally through the seventh race. Friendly Man broke on top as starter Bill Schamerhorn got his field away in perfect order at the start of the Eagles. Blue Shoes was second and Spring Rain third. The ultimate winner held sway by a head as he approached the half mile pole, with Spring Rain now second and Blue Shoes third, a length before Teenabee. Friendly Mans advantage grew to- a length and one half midway around the final bend and in the remaining quarter of a mile held to that identical margin. Teenabee moved along into second position on the stretch turn, but could not menace the winner in any way. Rubio and Gleaming Doll both closed willingly for the minor awards. Friendly Man was winning his second straight race having had improved steadily with each start. S. S. Ganos Meilinger, ridden by apprentice Lou Syfrig, accounted for the Ohio State Fair Purse by a length over Jemar who in turn was three parts of a length before Sevens Star. The winner paid 5.00 and was providing young Syfrig with his second tally of the afternoon. He rode a triple yesterday. Time for the six furlongs was 1:14.
