Leahy Bitterly Denounces College Grids New Rules WILLIAMSPORT, Pa., UP, Aug. 28. Coach Frank Leady of Notre Dame, bitterly denouncing college footballs new rules, said today that "we are playing directly into the hands of the professionals and we had better do something about it." "When deterioration sets in on college playing standards, the people are going to spend their money to see the pros play instead," Leahy said. Speaking at a luncheon held in connection with the Little League Baseball Championship, Leahy said he could find very little good in the rule changes which abandoned the two-platoon system. Leahy predicted that there would be more injuries under the new rule because under the two-platoon system, "we always had fresh men in the game." Leahy said another detrimental factor in the new rule is that it will be necessary to hold the boys in practice longer.
