, : 4 Early Traffic Given Call For A. B. Dacfe Memorial Recent Winner at Henderson Oval Has Five Rivals to Whip Today By J. J. HAHN Staff Correspondent DADE PARK, Henderson, Ky., Aug. 28. The A. B. Dade Memorial Handicap, in memory of the late starter, whose name this rtack bears, features the eight-race program Saturday. It is for three -year-olds and upward and brings together half a dozen distance runners over the one mile and 40 yards distance. Making up the feature race are Early Traffic, Mad Saint, Boutonniere, Isit Cash, Newspaper and Milli Victor. Supporting the feature are the five and one-half" f urlongs fifth, in which two-year-olds are to furnish the sport and the eighth at one mile nad seven-eighths. The consistent Early Traffic, star of the F. M. Ashby establishment, has drawn top weight for the Dade Memorial. The five-year-old son of Menow Spring II. has been assigned 117 pounds by racing secretary and handicapper L. H. Van Zandt, giving from seven to 1 pounds to his rivals. - Early Traffic copped last Saturdays Dade Park Handicap, a six furlongs dash, outgaming Sonny Brown after the latter got to the front an eighth from the finish. In that race he picked up 111 pounds, the same as his other engagements here when he finished second to Lancaster Lady in the one-mile Governors Handicap and to -Barts Energy the first Saturday of the current meeting. . Mad Saint has been given 110 pounds.. The Mrs. James Bronnenberg representative si expected to make it interesting for the Ashby colorbearer, since Mad Saint is being spotted a neat seven pounds. Mad Saint is a winner at the meeting and has campaigned sparingly. Boutonniere and Isit Cash are in at equal weights of 107 pounds, while Newspaper drew 106 and Milli Victor, 103 pounds. After finishing third to Early Traffic and Sonny Brown in the Dade Park Handicap last Saturday, beaten little more than two lengths, Isit Cash came back Monday and copped an allowance affair. In the Dade Park Handicap Isit Cash carried 101 pounds, so is picking up six in the Saturday feature while Early Traffic is taking on the same weight. Under, the weight assignments it appears Early Traffic is getting the best of the wqights. Boutonniere has been erratic during the local season, usually taking the overland. Newspaper and Milli Victor have been running with lesser lights with each entering the winners circle on one occasion. Some of tfie best juveniles here will be meeting in the fifth. It is the first time since the beginning of the session that two-year-olds are being asked to go more than five furlongs. The race is a prep for the A. M. Fisher Handicap, a six furlong race which is down for decision next week end. In the allowance dash for youngsters are Beitel, Lady Norm, Frame Work, Thyn Rhyne, Boerrac, Daddys Punkin, Cen Tack and Hawkins Horse. All, with the exception of the latter and Beitel, who has not started at the meeting, have been winners here. The marathon affair drew the entries of Maidens Prayer and Jimmy K., past winners of these distance races, and matched against them are Narragansett, who was bested last Saturday by Jimmy K., First Security, Laura, Timber Wolf, Odd Child, King Clerk, Queen O Night and War Code4 Most of the other races are made up of small fields. It was the first time during the first 21 days of the meeting that Van Zandt ran into difficulty in filling his racing program for the following day.
