Thoroughbreds Show Inherent Courage at Fairmount Park FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, -HI., Aug. 28. Two horses displayed the inherent courage of the thoroughbred here on two successive nights when, despite breaking down, they gallantly strove their utmost and finished in the money. Silver Creek Farms Dandy G. suffered a bad bow entering the last three-sixteenths qf the sixth event here last night, but kept on running to the end and finished second to M. Whitebooks Bat Girl, who equaled the track record of 1:05 for five and one-half furlongs in her triumph. The six -year-old Valdina Dandy gelding will be turned out and an attempt will be made to save him for a comeback. A deeper sense of loss will be felt, by Fairmount Park patrons with the absence of William Skidmore, Jr.s, Bo-Co, who probably has won more races over this oval than any other runner in the history of the course. Skidmore reported -this morning that injuries to Bo-Cos sesamoid and suspensory ligamentswere beyond recovery and that the seven-year-old gelded son of Bold Irishman Miss Cohort, would be humanely destroyed. Bo-Co broke down entering the stretch in the fifth race on Tuesday night, but his gameness carried him forward to finish third. In the several seasons he has raced for Skidmore, Bo-Co placed out of the money only eight times in 57 starts, truly a remarkable record. He has earned 7,050 while owned and trained by Skidmore.
