j Repelled Out to Extend Win Streak at Gansett Gets Weight From Switch On and By Jeepers in Watch Hill Purse By AVERY BROWN Staff Correspondent NARRAGANSETT PARK, Pawtcuket, R. I., Aug. 28. Eight speedy two-year-olds are slated to go postward in the ,500 Watch Hill Purse, six-furlong headliner on Gansetts first Saturday of the current autumn meeting. O. L. Fosters Repelled, the fleet gelding who recently annexed the 5,000 two-year-old Manchester Purse at Rockingham Park, goes in tomorrows sprint with an impost of 115 pounds, just one more than he toted in his last victory. Thus weighted, Repelled is expected to receive the chief support over the shifty band of juveniles he faces. Regarded as a fast-closing gelding, the Poster colorbearer turned back a strong field in his New Hampshire score, coming in the stretch from fourth place to win by a head in the last strides. In that race the Depth Charge or Through Bound gelding negotiated the six furlongs in 1:11, an indication of the speed he possesses. Four of the main contenders who faced Repelled in the 5,000 test will again furnish the competition in tomorrows field, prominent among these being A.H. Smiths By Jeepers who finished second to Repelled at the New Hampshire oval. Trained by Clay Sutphin, By Jeepers has been responded satisfactorily in training here and will carry the topweight of the field, 123 pounds. Irving Gushens Arthur S. has been assigned 117 for the Watch Hill and will have Tony DeSpirito in the saddle. The two-year-old Alsab colt, a winner of an allowance at the summer meeting here and a close fourth in the Narragansett Nursery Stakes, was not too far off the pace in the Rockingham race last Saturday and must be accorded serious consideration for the big share of the ,500 pot tomorrow.
