MORRIS— President of the Thoroughbred Racing Associations of the United States, will be guest of honor this afternoon at Lincoln Fields. Lincoln to Honor President of TRA Bull Hierocles, Duke of Chi And Nahrawan Among Group Vying in Six-Furlong Sprint LINCOLN FIELDS, Crete, HI., June 17.— Fridays feature race, a three-quarter mile dash for three-year-olds, is titled the John A. Morris, in honor of the president of Thoroughbred Racing Associations, who will be a visitor at Lincoln Fields in his official capacity as head of the Thorough.-bred Racing- Associations of the United States. Ten rather shifty sprinters were named to run in the feature. They include four which failed to find a berth in todays * Streator Purse, which was overfilled. These four are Mrs. E. M. Veehemans Peace Admiral, Mrs. R. L. Reinemans Nahrawan, Reverie Knoll Farms Bullheim, and Sunny Blue Farms filly, Lady Elliott, each of whom has made only a few starts this season, but all of whom were winners, either this year or last. As juveniles, Peace Admiral and Lady Elliott were raced sparingly, the former starting only five times, the filly only four, including their successful efforts in breaking their maidens. Nahrawan won one race, placed five times in .14. starts last year. This chestnut gelding, by Pavot, out of Bunoora, was unplaced behind Dear Doctor in his lone start at this meeting. Lady Elliott, a daughter of Revoked — Fakes Gal, was third to Blue Hawaii here on May 31. Bull- _ A heim, a, bay colt by Blenheim n., out of Sis Lea, by Bull Lea, did not race at two, but won the second start of his career at the New Orleans Fair Grounds last Feb- • ruary. He has not started here. Others Slated to Perform The foregoing quartet will have as rivals for the Morris Purse the following: Emil Denemarks Le Sabre, Anthony Graffag-ninis Bull Hierocles, W. H. Bishops Radiant Fox, John C. Wozneskis Duke of Chi, Scottdale Farms Carrier Girl, and Sam E. Wilsons Arabian Queen. The stiffest competition in the race well may come from the members of the last-named sextet. Bull Hierocles is the most recent winner in this group. On June 3 here, with a muddy track to his liking, he made a shambles of his race, making his opposition look cheap by leaving his closest competitor, Deep Margie, 12 lengths behind at the finish. On that day he raced for Olde-hoye Stable, but was claimed by his present New Orleans owner, Graff agnini. By Hierocles, out of Bull Dog Miss, this chestnut | colt won two races at two last year. j Duke of Chi has made only one start this year, in which he was unplaced, but at two last season won five of his 14 starts. Bred by Keeneland Stud, he is by the old blind stallion, Jean Valjean, who died a couple of years ago, out of Drawbridge, the dam of Drawby, sire of the good stakes winner, Smoke Screen. Radiant Fox, son of Equifox and the Olney mare, Radiant Girl, has won twice, the latest on March 13. Arabian Queen, half-sister to the Santa Anita Derby winner, Old Rockport, won one of her three starts last season. Carrier Girl won three races, placed six times last year, but has been unsuccessful in her three starts this season, all of at this meeting. Le Sabre, who broke his maiden at Hawthorne last September, has been unplaced in five starts in 1954. Immediately prior to the John A. Morris will be the Thoroughbred Racing Association Purse, for which mile and one-sixteenth event the following six good middle distance runners were named: Dr. Ole Nelson, Peace Jitters, Gus Fan, Challcote, Baggage Boy, and Experimental. With a race named for her, the Lincoln Fields Association also honors the memory of the grand mare, Lady Broadcast, whose victory in the Lincoln Handicap in 1930 was outstanding among the important races of that period.
