I Ten Dams of Stake Winners Among Outside1 Mares Bred to Count Fleet Success of Reigh Counts * Son at Stud Gained Through Variety of Bloodline Matings LEXINGTON, Ky., June 17.— Count Fleet, one of the most successful of Americas younger sires, was bred to 10 dams of stake winners among the "outside" mares booked to him during the breeding season just .completed. Three of these mares also had won stakes, as did seven of the other outside mares bred to Mrs. John D. Hertz stallion. The dams of stakes winners are Monsoon dam of Cold Command, Aunt Chaney Chanlea, Creole Maid Natchez, Uvira H. General Staff and Colonel 0"F., Offensive Slam Bang, Bold Anna One Hitter , Psychist Ouija , Hugabit Count-A-Bit , Hastily Yours Alerted , and Cam-elina Pet Bully. In addition to having produced stakes winners, Monsoon, Creole Maid, and Uvira II. also won stakes. Other stake winners among outside mares bred to the Stoner Creek stallion were Next Move, Alsabs Day, Boswell Lady, Zenoda, Petit Bleu, Nina Bruja, and Good Excuse. The outside mares Bourtai, Elite and Aero-Comet, bred to Count Fleet this year, have produced horses who placed in stakes. Other outside mares have produced winners. They are Dame Sol, Amiga, Boswell Lady, Flawless Pearl, Busy Whirl, Desert Sun, Nina Bruja and Dark Imp. The success of Count Fleet at stud has been gained through mating him with mares of a wide variety of bloodlines. A study of the outside mares sent to him in 1954 does not indicate that their owners are searching for a "nick," because the 30 mares sent to the son of Reigh Count are by 24 different stallions. Hyperion, Blue Larkspur, Bull Lea, Mahmoud and Alibhai each were represented by more than one daughter, but those are the only duplications. Nine of the outside mares bred to Count Fleet this year have had no produce to race so far. But the remaining 21 mares or their dams have produced 95 stakes winners or horses placed in stakes. Patrons of the Hertz stallion this year were Dr. Eslie Asbury, Brookmeade Stable, Calumet Farm, Leslie Combs U., A. J. Crevolin, John W. Galbreath, Greentree Farm, A. B. Hancock, Jr., Howell Jackson, Walter M. Jeffords, L. L. Haggin EC George M. Humphrey, H. H. Krimendahl, Edward S. Lasker, Robert. Lehman, Clifford Mooers, John S. Phipps, Daniel F. Rice, George Ring, E. Barry Ryan, J. H. Ryan, L. K. Shapiro, Mrs. J. R. H. Thou-ron, A. G. Vanderbilt, John de Blois Wack and C. V. Whitney.
