HUMPHREY raced evenly to the stretch, saved ground at the final turn and, responding to brisk handling, disposed of the leaders to win going away. CAPTAIN FIN, forwardly placed from the start, finished willingly but was not good enough for the winner. BOLD BANDIT gave a fair effort and had no excuse. SIR WALTER R. moved up boldly approaching the stretch, settled for the drive with a clear advantage, then weakend. HASTY BEE took an early lead, set the pace to the stretch, then drifted out while tiring. NORTH PENNANT made a good bid nearing the stretch but had nothing left for the drive. BROWN SMOKE began alertly, disliked the muddy track and bore to the outside during the last three-eighths mile. BELLE GRAND was never prominent and had no excuse. WAR SECRETARY, never far back after the start, raced to HARPETH MISS during the stretch run, attempted to bear in but was up in the last strides. HARPETH MISS took an early lead, set the pace until inside the stretch, was weakly handled during the late stages and could not withstand WAR SECRETARY. POLYCHREST gave a fair effort and had no mishap. MR. RAINES failed to rally when set down through the stretch. EASY DOCTOR had no excuse. SHORT CABLE was never dangerous. SAM VALLIER showed nothing. AMBI ABE began slowly. AMAUT ROYAL had early foot but failed to stay. LITTLE BARB, in close quarters leaving the backstretch, failed to recover. REAPING ROSES, well placed from the start, responded to strong handling during the stretch run and, disposing of STONY POINT, won going away. BETHS GIRL raced. evenly to the stretch, finished willingly under brisk urging but could not reach the winner. SAM SLICK gave a good effort and had no mishap. STONY POINT went to the front early, made the pace to the final furlong, then faltered when challenged by REAPING ROSES. ANN-MAR held on well and had no excuse. CHIC STAR raced wide. HAPPYS SAM was outrun. MON HOMME, on the outside the entire trip, was uanble to reach serious contention. SYLBEL could not keep up after beginning alertly. SQUAD CAR began" sluggishly. FIVE AUCS, rank during the post parade, was never prominent. STAGE RYTHM, ALICIA ANN and SANDRAS BABY showed nothing. The latter steadily improved position to the stretch, remained in the middle of the track for the drive, closed strongly, but was unable to overtake the top one. JIMS TOWN moved up fast after the start, then raced evenly in a good effort HARVEST TIME raced with INNISFREE to the final furlong, then gave way. FIGHTING MOOD raced wide. OREIGH began alertly, then dropped back immediately after the start and could not enter serious contention thereafter. TRIP NORTH, outrun to the stretch, saved ground during the drive and tired after making a bold bid. SHAMROCK LAD lacked early foot but finished fairly well under punishment. MELVYN GARY began alertly,- raced well to the stretch, then drifted out while tiring. SU-JAY could not keep up. TEA BISCUIT lacked early foot. LUCKY SWEEP was never dangerous. OSCAR J. was through early. STURDY showed nothing. STREET SCENE went to the front early, made the pace to the stretch while engaging TAFTLA but had nothing left for the drive.
