Fascinator Works Clever Half in :47| at Belmont Set to Give Evening Out Battle For Gazelle Honors at Aqueduct BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y., June 17. — A couple of candidates for weekend stakes at Aqueduct turned in clever trials on the main track here this morning. Maine Chance Farms Fascinator, who gave Mrs. George D. Wideners Evening. Out her only hard race in the National Stallion Stakes last year, showed her usual morning speed when stepping a handy half in :47% for Saturdays Gazelle Stakes, in which she will meet the Shut Out filly at a mile and a sixteenth. Fascinator has been training well since the disappointing races which followed her clever triumph in the Kentucky Oaks. Green tree Stables Card Trick, who is expected to appear in Mondays Shevlin at seven furlongs, was under a light hold as he breezed the stakes distance in 1:28%. Card Trick, who won his seasonal debut impressively, will be tested for class on Monday by such as Fisherman and Porterhouse. Mrs. Ogden Phipps Oedipus, who is in a hurdle race at Aqueduct tomorrow, blew out three furlongs in :37% for that race. Pin Oak Farms Make A Play, who is also eligible to the Gazelle, stepped five furlongs in .1:00% this morning, tiring slightly after early fractions of :22%, :34% and :46%. Make A Play, who won the Marguerite Stakes and three other races last year, turned in a good race for her re-entry at Delaware on May 31, but may not be quite up to the mile and a sixteenth of the Gazelle.
