Notes From Along the Banks of Stoner Creek By LE SANCY PARIS, Ky., May 7. — Americas Kentucky Derby male line, Reigh Count-Count Fleet-Count Turf, remained unique today as another great Derby went into the records. It continues to be the only instance of grand-sire-sire-son winning the Churchill Downs classic. Each scored his victory with consummate ease — Reigh Count in 1928. Count Fleet in 1943 and Count Turf in 1951. * * • • * For Count Fleet it was the first jewel in his Triple Crown. The Preakness, his next start, he won by eight lengths, and the Belmont Stakes was won by 25. The Belmont proved to be not only his final start of the season, but also the end of his racing career. But his brilliant unbeaten record at three had earned him the plaudits of the severest of critics and he was a unanimotis choice as 1943s "Horse of the Year. " To most observers he was one of the great racers of the American turf. * * * » » Standing at Stoner Creek, he has compiled an equally brilliant stud record. He has sired two "Horses of the Year* eight other 00,000 winners, 16 other stake winners. His get has won more than ,000,-000 in seven years of racing. He was Americas leading sire in 1951. Stoner Creeks 1955 consignment to the Keeneland Summer Sales will feature several top prospects by Count Fleet. And a yearling sired by Count Fleet is a prospect for Futurities at two, classics at three and important handicaps at four and up.
