i j | Swaddle Receives Honors In Ascot Park Feature Stewards Set Noble Idea Back To Second Place for Bearing In ASCOT PARK. Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. May 7. — Swadelle. belonging to Mrs. A. C. Robertson, became a stout candidate for next Saturdays Ascot Gold Cup after the stewards awarded him the purse in the fo rth race here today. Going one and nine -sixteenths miles, this is twice around the local oval. Swadelle finished second by a neck to Noble Idea but the latter was disqualified and placed in second position, giving the Robertson colorbearer top portion of a ,400 purse award. Nine lengths farther back. Rapid Rickey was third with four other weary performers strung out behind him. Made an odds -on choice by the estimated crowd of 9,500 Swadelle returned .80. An eight-year-old gelded son of Swahili-Judelle. the winner carried jockey Floyd Green over the distance in 2:45Vs on a fast strip. Green moved into a tie for riding honors with Owen Headley by this tally. Noble Idea, who was piloted by apprentice Joseph Minento, bore in badly nearing the final turn of the endurance test, causing Green to sharply take up Swadelle. The latter made a game but futile attempt to overhaul Noble Idea -through the drive | but hung in the closing strides. Mondays program opens the second final full week of this meeting. This coming Saturday is the highlight of the 44-day session when the Ascot Gold Cup will have its I4th renewal. A limit dozen starters are a certainty to go postward for the ,000 prize. The Gold Cup is a grind of two miles. Headlining Mondays card is a dash of four and a half furlongs under allowance conditions. A group of seven seasoned sprinters have accepted the issue. Posted as the seventh race this test is named the Wisteria Purse and offers a prize of ,600. Named overnight to match strides in the i main attraction are Takare, Street Scene, ■ Texas Coin. Hardhack, Jet-Ray, Carolling, and Hot Number.
