LONE RISER raced GREAT ARTURO into defeat to take command before going a half mile, faltered slightly when placed to stern pressure during the drive, but lasted to outgame ROCKY RIDGE. The latter moved up boldly to attain the runner-up position leaving the final turn, but lugged in slightly during the late stages and was unable to overtake the top one. OUR FRANCINE was unable to improve her position when hard hustled through the final furlong. PERICLEAN had no apparent excuse. SHANNON SOUND and RAES BID were always outrun. ULTRA PRIAM, away fastest, was taken back slightly from the early pace, came to the outside when shaken for the drive and was along in the late strides to prevail over FOLDING MON. The latter forged to the front at the furlong marker, then held on determinedly in a sharp effort. TARCILL recovered gamely after stumbling at the start, then rallied too belatedly to seriously endanger the top ones. HALF MINUTE lacked the necessary rally. ALAPAT, shuffled back slightly entering the stretch, failed to properly recover. LOOSE LIP was outrun. AIR DON failed to stay. NOBLE PRIZE and CRAFTY IMP never were formidable.
