Golden Gate Program Lists McDaniel Poona II. Trainer GOLDEN GATE FIELDS, Albany, Calif., May 7. — R..H. McDaniels name was carried on the racing program as trainer of Poona II. in the 0,000 Golden Gate Handicap here this afternoon. The California Horse Racing Board and the board of stewards here approved the action at the request of H. H. Helbush and Mrs. McDaniel. Americas leading trainer, McDaniel, met a tragic death Thursday. Helbush sent the following letter to the stewards: Because my trainer Mr. R. H. McDaniel, whose recent death has so saddened all of us, was the person solely responsible for the conditioning and developing of my , horse Poona n„ I respectfully request that his name be carried on the program as the trainer for his engagement in the Golden Gate Handicap. "Mrs. McDaniel joins me in this request and Mr. Sam Swartzberg, who has taken over the training of the stable, will assume all responsibilities."
