Camden. N. J.. May 7. — Carrying Sammy Boulmetis to his fourth victory of the afternoon, Jan Burkes Dedicate won the 1,200 Delaware Valley Stakes here today, sizzling the six furlongs in 1 :0933 to equal the track record. Dedicate scored by a half length over Mrs. E. H. Augustus Informant in the sprint for three-year-olds, running that horse down in the stretch. It was another length and a half back to Craigwood Stables Craigwood, who was third in the field of 12. Winner of his last three starts. Dedicate paid 8.40 under Boulmetis clever ride. A crowd of 34.255 turned out on a glorious spring afternoon for the second running of the Delaware Valley. Victory in the Delaware Valley was worth 2,150 net to Jan Burke, daughter of trainer Cary Winfrey, who is enjoying one of the most successful years in his long career. In the absence of Winfrey, who like Sunny Jim Fitzsimmons eschews traveling, assistant trainer Jim Milner accepted the Delaware Valley trophy from Oscar Obregon. a member of the Mexican Racing Commission. Banner Day for Boulmetis This was a banner day for Boulmetis. who last Saturday set a track record in the Valley Forge Handicap with Helioscope. Boulmetis won the third and fourth races with Little Baker and Thomas Pepper, then came back with Ifabody in the sixth before winning the stake on Dedicate. Dedicate, a bay colt by Princequillo — Dini, did nothing as a two-year-old, barely getting one third in eight attempts. This season he seems to have found himself and, after two unsuccessful efforts on the West Coast, broke his maiden and since then has run up four straight victories. In his previous outing before the Delaware Valley he beat the highly regarded Simmy at a mile and a sixteenth. When the field for the Delaware Valley broke. Dedicate showed in front, but was snugly held by Boulmetis as Craigwood dashed to the front before Informant and Aeschylus. Craigwood, who just missed by a nose in equaling the world record for six and a half furlongs at Gulfstream this past winter, maintained a half length lead as they went around the turn. Informant was a persistent second, while Dedicate, who had been shuffled back near th; half-mile pole, came on again and ranged up to be third. Swinging around the final turn for the run home. Informant took dead aim on Craigwood, who was striving valiantly along the rail, while Dedicate, came on the outside for his surge. Informant shoved his head in front before the eighth pole, but Dedicate was eating up the ground in devouring strides and quickly flashed past Informant to take the big end of the purse. The latter had little trouble beating out Craigwood for third money. 4
