NIGHT OWL, sent up with a rush on the outside in the run down the backstretch to wrest command at the half-mile ground, drew out while continuing to race wide and just lasted in a stiff drive. STAR POWDER dorpped far back in the early running, worked her way up steadily while racing between horses after leaving the backstretch and narrowly missed. YASUO raced wide and flattened out when called upon in the stretch run. TELEGRAMMA was never a serious factor. STANDING ROOM faltered after making a mild rally from between horses on the final turn. CENTERPOISE was always far back. LOUISVILLE LOU showed some early foot. Overweight— Night Owl, 1 pound; Star Powder, 1; Yasuo, 1; Telegramma, 2; Battle Oath, 1, Scattershot. 1; Louisville Lou, 1. AMAFOX had speed from the start, saved ground in the late stages and under strong handling stalled off REHEARSER. The latter steadied along while being outrun early, moved through between horses en the final turn and finished stoutly. GOLD QUEST blocked along the inside to the stretch where she finally was forced to come out for the drive and finished full of run. RED MOUNTAIN found his best stride too late. LORD NORTH was never a factor. LITTLE FERD was used up in vying for the early lead. SUPERCILIOUS could not keep up. Overweight— Gold Quest, 5 pounds. MAB, unhurried in the early stages, came to the outside to make her bid on entering the stretch and wore down ROSA inside the final furiong. PLATTERETTE, slov; to begin, was forced to come to the extreme outside on entering the stretch and appeared to hang slightly in the closing strides. ROSA engaged MARTEX early, put that one away when sharply roused en the stretch turn but had little left when the real test came. PRINCESS POLLY passed only tiring horses. GIN CHAMP forced the early pace while in hand, wore down MISSION while lugging in through the early stretch, and drew well clear with ease. FLINT NIGHT, held in reserve while being outrun early, came wide to make his bid on entering the stretch and, while improving his position, he could not menace the winner.
