J. MURPHY SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero. 111.. May 11. — W. W. Morrow, Texas turfman, sent out a surprise winner in the featured Bubbling Over Purse here today in Restraint, a chestnut" filly who had failed in her two prior attempts at this track. Restraint won by five lengths this afternoon, and her margin probably came about due to the fact that the pair closest to her at the end had spent themselves in the early running. They were Roman Senator and Charlies Gem and they finished second and third, respectively. Restraint, ridden by John L. Rotz, paid 1.00 and ran one and one -sixteenth miles in 1;S0%. Charlies Gem was the favorite and had his speed from the start, but he caught a tartar#in Roman Senator, who kept pace with him throughout and refused to give in. Roman Senator, well ridden by Bennie Green, had the advantage of being on the inside of his rival all the way. and while Charlies Gem appeared in front at all call poles, Roman Senator headed him a couple of times in between. The two were still fighting for an advantage when Restraint passed them and they continued their struggle down to the wire, with Roman Senator being a head the best. Racing Strip Becomes Fast The days attendance was 10,788. and the first part of the bill was run over a racing strip that was just a trifle removed from fast. The latter portion was decided on a fast track. The sun failed to break through to any great extent during the afternoon. Favorites won the first two races, and the Daily Double pay-off was 1.40. Lady Ridgewell, making another try after having been beaten a couple of times, was a forward factor from the start in the opener, and with Ronnie Baldwin riding well lasted to best Hasty Girl. Specific, with Thearl Williams up, came from behind Moon Love in the second to score cleverly. Each of the first two events were at seven furlongs. The silks of William Hal Bishop were seen in front for the eighth time at the session when the three-year-old filly, Whits Rose, came from last place to dispose of Nora Shore in the closing strides in the third. Whits Rose, ridden by Ralph Borgemenke, was the second choice. He moved strongly after leaving the ie backstretch, and getting to the front in the ie stretch held Dont Orest. Bennie Green was is the winning rider, and Starborough, the ie public choice, was unplaced. Buster Jim beat Hi-Sky. a Bishop horse, e, by a neck in the fifth. It was a seven i- -d furlong affair, and Hi-Sky set the pace, e, with Buster Jim, ridden by apprentice :e Larry Byers, in second place. Buster Jim Ti got to the front in the last sixteenth.
