Inglewood. Calif., May 12. — Hollywood Park, one of Americas foremost race tracks, swings open its gates s tomorrow for its 16th season of sport offering, both improvements for the racing fans an another year of record-breaking purse distribution for the horsemen. Last year the Inglewood oval topped the nation in attendance, with 1,534.030 fans visiting the beautiful track of the leis and the flowers, as well as in mutuel i handle which saw the fans pour a total i of 06,990,931 through the machines. A world record was set last year when net purse distribution to the horsemen totaled ,171,700. The daily average distribution was 3,434. also a new world record. Nine of the swiftest sprinters on the West Coast were named through the entry box today for the featured six-furlong Premiere Handicap, to be run as the seventh race on the opening day program. Heading the list was the 5,000-added test for three-year-olds and upward is Abe Hirschbergs Berseem. who is the high-weight of the field at 128 pounds. Berseem will have the services of Willie Shoemaker and is conditioned by trainer Reggie Cornell. Llangollen Star to Carry 119 Next in the weights is Llangollen Farms J Porterhouse, who will carry 119 pounds, most of which will be jockey Ralph Neves. Following Porterhouse is Joe W. Browns i Gigantic, who must pick up 115 pounds. He will have Ray York in the saddle. Archie Sneeds consistent California-bred 1 Hour Regards gets into the Premiere with ! 114 pounds and comes from Golden Gate Fields a sharp horse. Mr. and Mrs. Harry James Big Noise, will go coupled in the wagering with The Character, who will race in the silks of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Icardo. Gordon Glisson was named overnight on both horses. Big Noise will pack 109 pounds, while The Character gets into the race with 105. . Spring Count. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Clark II. s hard-hitting performer will have Roy . Lumm up and has been given a 108 pound impost. . W. L. Warners One Ton Tony, winner . of his last start at Santa Anita Park, this winter will carry 108 pounds.
