JUST JUDY moved to strong contention after going a half-mile and, coming resolutely on the outside through the stretch, wore down BOOKWORM to get to the front in the last twenty yards. BOOKWORM was hard held while following TANBARK and went to the front under restraint, then withstood a challenge from CLOSE OUT and held on fairly well. BEYLERBEY was never far away and saved ground on the stretch turn. CLOSE OUT drew up to BOOKWORK on the backstretch, but was repelled by the latter and weakened, swerving in the stretch. BILLTOWN was too far out of it early and, althougn making up some ground, was not dangerous. RENOIR was never a threat. TANBARK stopped badly. Scratched-47949 Chara, 111. SAUCY PLAY was permitted to drop far back of the pace in the first half mile, but came fast on the outside in the final quarter and, although required to race beyond the middle of the track on the stretch turn, took command to hold CHARLES. The latter was reserved early and responded well in the stretch to best the others. BROADWAY JACK was always fairly well up in a steady effort. BARBAREBA weakened in the stretch. SLO MOE was through after making a mild move in the last quarter. TAOS CROSS and HASKINS were used up setting the pace and tired. NINTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. Espinos Image, Nov. 1, 1952—1:46—3-1101.
