Lausse 2-1 Favorite Over Tiger Jones Agentinean Eyes 28th Straight Win Ten Round Middleweight Bout in Madison Garden On TV and Radio Tonight By TIM MORIARTY United Press Sports Writer NEW YORK, N. Y., May 12 UP.— Eduardo KO Lausse, the Argentinean middleweight who used to make shoes, is a 2 to 1 choice to make Ralph "Tiger" Jones his 28th straight victim Friday night when boxing cards resume at Madison Square Garden. Lausse and Jones, a rugged belter from Yonkers, N. Y., follow the circus acts into the Garden and figure to provide considerable action in their 10-rounder. The bout will be televised and broadcast nationally. But if Lausse has his good left hook in working order, the fight isnt likely to go 10. The five-foot, nine-inch South American has earned his nickname. His 27-bout victory streak, eight of which were scored in the United States, includes 25 knockouts. This string has made Lausse the worlds seventh ranked middleweight. He hasnt been beaten since dropping a close decision to former welterweight king Kid Gavilan at Buenos Aires Sept. 13, 1952. The Argentinian won 57, lost six and drew in two bouts of the 65 he has fought since turning professional in 1948. He has scored 48 knockouts. KOd Small in Fourth Lausse has fought twice this year. He stopped Gil Edwards and knocked out Georgie Small in four rounds in his latest start April 16 in Boston. Lausse weighed 158 pounds for that bout. Jones is not a skillfull boxer. He is a puncher who has given several "name" fighters a hard time. . Jones lost five straight bouts lats year but opened his 1955 campaign by putting a crimp in the comeback attempt of Ray Robinson Jan. 19 at Chicago. Jones outpointed the 35-year-old ex-welterweight and middleweight king and then dropped a decision to current middleweight King Carl "Bobo" Olson Feb. 16. In his latest appearance, Jones knocked out George Johnson April 8 in five rounds. He scaled 158 V2 for that fight. The Yonkers fighter has won 34 of his 50 fights. He fought three draws and lost 13. He won nine of his fights by knockouts. Both Lausse and Jones are 27.
