THEMIS, never far back and well ridden, was sent between horses during the stretch run and wore down JEAN THE JOKER in the last sixteenth. The latter, well placed from the start, reached the lead during the drive and held on determinedly but was unable to withstand the top one. TARTAN SUE, away fast, gave a good performance and had no mishap. GRACIOUS HEART lacked early foot but finished fast. BOLD KING, outrun to the stretch, made up ground during the drive. VINITA TONEY made a mild bid in the early stretch, then weakened. WINGS AWAY took an early lead, set the pace to the stretch, then q:,ve way. JETTS KISS tired after displaying early speed. ELS FOLLY swerved during the stretch run. BOLD GAL could not keep up. KATINKA showed little. THYN RHYNE raced far back throughout. CARLO C, well handled, gradually worked his way forward to the stretch, responded to hard urging when sent to the middle of the track for the drive and wore down VALAIRE in the last sixteenth. The latter, a sharp factor from the outset, assumed command during the stretch run, bumped SKY CAPERS, then was unable to hold the top one. VALAIRE was disqualified for fouling and placed fourth. PICKLED PINE gave a good effort but was unable to seriously threaten the leaders. SKY CAPERS, alertly ridden, took command at once, made the pace until inside the stretch, then was knc.~!:ecl completely off stride by VALAIRE -sA failed to recover after the roughing. ATONE lacked early fool. ERUPT was outrun and had no excuse. REDDY TEDDY tired. SHES A BIRD had a rough race. DRONGO was through early. DESTROYER was never prominent.
