New Jersey Notes GARDEN STATE PARK, Camden N. J.. May 12. Trio Stables Smooth Stride turned in an excellent trial at Garden State this morning while pointing for the Cherry Hill Stakes next Wednesday. The two-year-old son of Kings Stride romped five furlongs in :593/5, moving handily. King Ranchs On Your Own, winner of the Betsy Ross Stakes at Garden State last year, and now prepping for her engagement in the Colonial Handicap, has been training well for this fixture. The latest drill of the Bold Venture filly was a four-furlong dash in :49%. Jockey Charlie OBrien visits Pimlico on Saturday to ride R. N. Websters Sorceress in the Black Eyed Susan Stakes. The Bronx rider returns to Garden State on Monday. Jockeys Billie Thompson and Basil James have returned to Garden State Park after a one-day excursion to Belmont Park. Jockey Kenneth Church, shaken in a spill here on Tuesday, resumed riding today. The popular saddlesmith will pilot Duntreath Farms Fleet Path in the Jersey Stakes here on Saturday. Barclay Stables undefeated Pollys Jet, who won the Juvenile Stakes at Belmont Park yesterday in the fastest time since 1892, is one of the leading nominees for the Cherry Hill Stakes to be run at Garden State Park next Wednesday. The fleet son of Polynesian stepped the five furlongs in :56%, and handed Lily-Ann Stables Get-there Jack his first defeat. Pollys Jet was racking up his third straight victory. Exercise boy Steve Rodiguez of Camden, S. C, suffered a knee injury this morning at Garden State Park. Rodiquez was ponying David O. Evans Harange, when his pony fell. The boy was treated at the track first aid station.
