Sears, Ex-Santa Clara Star, Signs With Knickerbockers - NEW YORK, N. Y., May 12 UP .—The New York Knickerbockers announced today that they have received the signed contract of Ken Sears, six-foot-nine Santa Clara center who was their No. 1 choice in last months National Basketball Association draft. Sears averaged 22.3 points in 24 games for Santa Clara last season, and had a 50.1 field goal shooting percentage. He also averaged 17.5 rebounds per game. Sears was recommended to the Knicks by Bob Feerick, Santa Clara coach who once played in the NBA. Feerick said Sears "is a cinch to make good with the Knicks." He pointed out that although Sears is slender for his height, he is rugged, missing only one game in four years at Santa Clara.
