RED RUDOLPH went to the front soon after the start, widened his lead on the backstretch, then saved ground in the stretch and was doing his best to -last. SCARLET JR. was never too far away, came strongly through the stretch and was gaining. BLUE FAY dropped back as if through nearing the stretch turn, but came again in the stretch. ARISTER C finished well in slightly close quarters and his rider claimed a foul, but the claim was not allowed. JEDGAR was always in a prominent position and, taking a short lead in the stretch, held RAPID BOMB all through the last furlong. RAPID BOMB moved up on the inside entering the stretch to challenge for the leadership and battled well to the end. COUNT BALLET had the most early speed but weakened in the stretch. LAWRIN JR. was going well at the end. DUKE K. bolted to the outside fence on the second turn and lost all chance. LORI-EL caught ASPASIA around the far turn to draw "out around the stretch turn, then raced gamely to the end under hand urging to hold KID JR. The. latter broke well but was unable to keep up, then moved up in the stretch and was gaining slowly on the winner. BUGABOO made a good move on the outside entering the stretch, then suddenly lugged in at midstretch and lost his chance. FORTUNE N. finished fairly well. WANT-A-BIT was whipped to contention early and slipping through an opening on the inside of the leaders around the far. turn to take command, then saved ground in the stretch to draw out~and was an easy winner. ASKING made a good move nearing the stretch turn, but was required to race on the outside of VYR and NEW .STREAM, losing much ground. VYR was unable to get to the front of NEW STREAM in the first part and had nothing left. WAR STIM was badly outrun. NEW STREAM tired. IM EXPECTIN set a good pace, continued well after being headed and was gaining at the end. MIKEABY moved up entering the stretch but lacked the necessary finishing power. TOHIL had no apparent excuse and failed to threaten. ROSEHUE lost considerable ground in the stretch. TRUE BRUCE was badly outrun. BABYS PAL was through after going five furlongs. SEA SIREN was well rated close up in the first six furlongs and, although forced to race wide in the stretch, forged to the front in the last furlong to win by a good margin. NOBLE TWIST moved up between horses in the stretch to best LIKE HOVER for second place in the closing strides. LIKE HOVER got to the front nearing the stretch turn and then "bore out. HARD SEA made up some ground in the stretch. FOXY GERT was used up making the pace and tired, although saving ground. ETERNAL HOUR was never a serious contender.
