Won driving; second and third the same. BIRCH BROOK gained a striking position early, raced on the outside while wearing down the leaders on the stretch turn, drifted in while under pressure in the stretch and Just lasted over PEPITO M. The latter had his customary early speed, saved ground around the turn, gave way readily to the winner on the final turn and then came again when brought to the outside for the drive to narrowly miss. T. GIBSON, slow to settle in stride, was brought to the inside on the stretch turn and under pressure finished full of run. SEALED BOOK raced with the top flight from the outset and faltered only slightly when put to a drive in the stretch run. SNOOZIE, sluggish away from the gate, moved through between horses while advancing on the final turn, came to the inside in the stretch and "wore down the leaders with a rush inside the last sixteenth. BRIAR CREEK, held under light restraint early, moved up boldly between horses to wrest command between calls in the stretch and had little left to repel the belated bid of the winner. GREEJ HOPE, slow to reach his best stride, loomed up strong on the outside entering the stretch and, while lugging in, he appeared to hang slightly in the closing* stages. CASUAL FRIEND, slow to settle into stride, moved through between horses in the stretch and while finishing full of run was unable to menace the winner. BLUER found his best stride too late. MARULLAH broke a trifle slow, was steadied to avoid a bearing out horse on leaving the backstretch, then moved willingly on the leaders when clear to take command With a rush nearing the last furlong and won with something in reserve. DOTTY BISHOP had speed from the outset, saved ground and gave v/ay readily to the winner. CAPELET passed only tiring horses. ACHILLEUS gained a striking position early, but bore out rounding the turn and faltered when called upon in the stretch. HELLO JUNEDEAR could not keep up. IBERIA bore out on entering the stretch, carrying her stablemate with her. ROSETTA had speed for three-eighths and tired. MORNING WATCH, unhurried while being outrun early, circled his field when rallying on the second turn to wrest command between calls inside the last quarter and while no match for the winner he was easily best of the- others. RUN QUICK passed only tiring horses. FLYING VENTURE tired from his pacemaking efforts. OMER, taken under restraint early, was in close quarters while racinq alonq the inside and lacked a rally when clear oh the second turn. BE DELIGHTED stumbled at the start. FANTINE BUSHER displayed keen speed from the outset, saved ground and under intermittent pressure in thestretch was able to turn back GRECIAN LURE and still have enough left to hold PRECIOUS LADY safe. The latter was badly outrun early, then worked her ■way through between horses in the stretch and finished full cf run. PEGEEN also was slow to reach her best stride, responded to urging in the late stages and closed a big gap. GRECIAN LURE was never far back, raced on the extreme outside while making a bold bid on the final turn and appeared to hang slightly in the last sixteenth. BLESS PAT was used up early. MIDAFTERNOON,-taken under snug restraint at the start, raced wide while maintaining a striking position and under strong handling wore down the leaders entering the final furlong.-POWER, also taken in hand at the start, saved ground to the final turn, where he was brought to the extreme outside and while finishing strongly he was not quite good enough. DEVASTATION forced the early pace while in hand, was eased out between horses to gain a narrow advantage a quarter out but had little left when the real test came. SUDDEN SHOCK, never far back, swung wide to make his bid on the stretch turn and could not seriously threaten the winner PASSYUNK found his best stride too late. MR. HAWLEY faltered after racing with the leaders to the early -stretch. CHARRO had speed for five, furlongs and tired. SOME TAN broke tardily. ~ Overweight— Scampering, 4 pounds.
