Michigan Notes HAZEL PARK, Mich., May 8. Although training activities at Hazel Park have been disrupted for several days, due to heavy rainfall, the running strip remains in excellent condition and the training tempo is accelerating as the May 21 inaugural approaches. More than 120 horses were on~the course Monday morning, although no speed tests were demanded. Nominations for the ,000 Great Lakes Handicap at six furlongs, opening day feature at Hazel Park, are to close on May 17, with weights and declarations by 10:00 a. m. Saturday, May 19. A secondary feature will be named the Mayors Exchange, : for three-year-olds and upward at one mile. Post-time at Hazel Park *on opening day, May 21, has been set for 3 oclock. Regular : weekday post-time, with exception of ■ the inaugural, v/ill be at-3:45,. and on Saturdays and holidays at 2:00 p. m. Horace Wade, racing secretary at Hazel Park, will visit Chicago on Wednesday and [ Thursday in the interests of the meeting • which opens locally on May 21. Richard A. • Connell, president of Hazel Park, will also 1 tour Churchill Downs to acquaint Kentucky horsemen with the purse and handicap schedule at the popular course. Hazel Park is to distribute approximately 2,000 daily throughout the 60-day season, - with purses ranging from ,000 to 0,000. •
