► ■ Churchill Headliner Lures Dozen Fillies Ament, Wilson Pair,Windsail Considered Main Contenders For Honors in Sprint Today CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 8. — The ,000 Kings Daughter Purse at six furlongs for three-year-old fillies will top, the eight-race program Wednesday at the local course. The Kings Daughter lured an overnight field of 12 speedy misses, representing 11 interests, and it shapes up as an attractive feature. Sam E. Wilson Jr., the Texas thoroughbred breeder and owner, will send out a hard-hitting pair in the Wednesday sprint. Wilsons silks are to be carried by the improved Lady Swords, 119, and Sweet Ties, 110 pounds. Lady Swords, a starter in the Kentucky Oaks, turned in a good performance in that middle distance stakes and she may take some beating in the Kings Daughter. Her stable companion also has a touch of class and her recent morning trials have been on the quick side. J. H. "Slim" Pierce, who conditions the Wilson unit, stated this morning that jockey Willie Carstens, will have the mount on either Lady Swords or Sweet Ties. Ament Carries 118 Peter A. B. Widener HI. will rely on Ament in the headline and iris filly is to shoulder 119 pounds. The daughter of Ambiorix and Fox Frill raced against good company during her juvenile campaign and she has been a sharp contender in both her Kentucky engagements this spring. The Widener miss, probable favorite, will have the saddle services of capable Douglas Dodson. Mrs. E. E. Dale Shaffers colors are to be carried in the Kings Daughter Purse by On the Bit, pegged at 1,16 pounds. The Shaffer hopeful will be handled by jockey Dave Erb. Others slated to meet in the sprint are Edwin K. Thomas Windsail, 116; Thomas F. Devereuxs stakes-winning Queen Margie, 119.; Buddah Stables Wing-Two, a recent visitor to the Downs winners ring, 116, and Beverly Brouns Lancaster Rose, 116 pounds. Also Harold G. Bookmans Nurse Ginny, 114; David and Kitchens Newmarket Maid, 116; Ernest H. Lanes Biujaria, 114, and Mrs. Charles C. Normans Steps Babe, 105 pounds. The apprentice allowance will be in force for Nurse Ginny, Steps Babe, and Brujaria. Jockey Robert Lee Baird will ride Wind-sail, William McKinley Cook has calls for Wing-Two and Newmarket Maid, and apprentice Nick Basile will be astride either Steps Babe or Brujaiia. Young Jimmy Parsons is named on Nurse Ginny and Queen Margie was an open mount at this writing.
