Jockey Popara Given Mount On Come On Red in Preakness CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 8. — Jockey Al Popara, who handled Helen W. Kelloggs Come On Red in the Kentucky Derby last Saturday, is engaged to ride the colt in the Preakness Stakes, according to word this morning from Popara s agent, Gilbert Hardy. Come On Red is a supplementary entry for the Maryland stakes. Jockey Larry Gilligan will fly to California Thursday to accept a Saturday stakes mount. Gilligan is to return in time to accept saddle engagements on the Downs Monday program.
