River Downs to Present Turf [Racing at Forthcoming Meet j CINCINNATI, Ohio, May 8.— River Downs Race Course will present turf racing during its 44-day meeting, starting May 25, as part of its program to provide Cincinnati-area patrons with the finest in thoroughbred competition. River Downs becomes the thirteenth track in the nation and first in this section to offer grass racing. Leon A. Slavin, River Downs president, carefully selected the best features of the various grass courses already in operation to be incorporated in the Queen Citys new turf j strip. The River Downs turf course will be seven-eighths of a mile, an oval inside the present dirt track of a mile. Hedges have been pla~hted to form the inside rail, while a wooden fence is being, built for the outside rail. First races over the turf at River Downs have been scheduled during the second week of the meeting.
