JAGOLD was under light restraint rounding the far turn, was sent after the leader leaving the turn to quickly assume command, opened a comfortable advantage but was all out to stall off BALLYKEEL. The latter, between horses in the early stages, finally shook loose leaving the far turn, came to the inside of the leader and was going strongly in the final sixteenth. MURTEX held a short lead early, dropped back on the turn, then was going strongly again at the fjnish. SOOKINSIN, on the outside of several horses early, found his best stride too late. WHISTLES BRO. dropped out of contention immediately after the start but was showing good speed in the final quarter mile. PLAYFUL DAY held a clear margin leaving the far turn, then suddenly faltered after being headed by the winner. OLD TOM was in tight quarters early, then retired steadily. ZIPPER, unhurried while within striking distance of the leader, responded to urging leaving the far turn, raced to the leader entering the stretch and had little difficulty widening his margin. JOHN PEEL quickly opened up a commanding lead, readily gave wayto the winner and held on fairly well thereafter. COUNTRY GOSSIP saved ground until entering the stretch, v/as taken outside and could not get to the top pair. BIRD BELL could not threaten with a mild rally. COMMAND ME retired steadily. ADAROSE, forwardly placed early, rushed to the leader leaving the far turn, assumed command with ease and drew out as if much the best. BECS FIREFLY was hustled to the lead going to the first turn, readily gave way to the winner and was superior to the others. CUANTETTE, always in contention early, was tiring but had enough left to hold off AUNT JO JO". The latter lacked a strong rally. HIGHTONE was bumped going to the first turn, then could not recover sufficiently. CASH ME IN tired gradually. ALLIED COLONY was in tight quarters going to the fjrst turn, gained a contending position and tired. SWADELLETTE was forced wide going to the first turn, moved mildly on the outside going down the backstretch, then faltered. THE TROLL had a rough trip going to the first turn almost losing the rider. PLAIN JIM rushed up boldly on the outside leaving the backstretch, set up a clear advantage into the stretch, was challenged strongly by SHY REQUEST and although bumped several times by the latter held a short advantage at the wire. SHY REQUEST gradually improved his position, loomed menacingly outside the winner entering the stretch, then was lugging in throughout the stretch run with his rider unable to do him justice. A claim of foul against the winner by Hettinger at the trainers request was disallowed. RETOLD was hustled to the front going to the first turn, then, tired gradually after being displaced. EXPECTANT moved slightly in front of the winner between horses, then held the lead entering the stretch and while holding on determinedly,. could not handle the winner in the final yards. PETE HARDEY was going willingly in the late stages when too late. SINGING GIRL lacked a strong rally. SET CABLE was between horses early, then tired. MONA LOU was outrun throughout without mishap. BIG CRASH, rushed strongly going to the far turn, / raced outside the leaders entering the stretch to assume command and held on determinedly to hold off the final challenge of SUNSHINE SWIV. The latter Was between horses entering the stretch and while going strongly in the final sixteenth could not wear down the winner. FRESH AND FAIR held a short lead when LADY STAUNTON faltered, then was tiring in the final stages HARE RAISING saved ground in an even effort. CONCRETE PIPE could not enter contention.
