SIXTEEN IN INAUGURAL Officials at Fairmount Park Predict More Nominees Before Deadline. One Hundred Horses on Track in the Busiest Training Session Thus Far — Opening Saturday. COLLINSVTLLE, HI., May 4.— Sixteen thoroughbreds have been nominated thus far for the ,200 Inaugural Handicap, feature of the opening program of the twenty-seven day Fairmount Park meeting, Saturday, and the list may grow before the deadline midnight tonight. Embracing many stars of the Middle West, which never have been seen here before, the nominations follow: Chance Ray, Fast Move, Jay D. Bane, John Francis, Professor Paul, Transview, Prince Argo, Roidef, Rich Cream, Radio Charm, Sweet Adeline, Prince Sador, Lady Thirteen, Wise Barrister, Elooto and Larry S. In the busiest training session preparatory to the opening, over 100 thoroughbreds were on the track yesterday for workouts and included in the group were ten candidates for the Inaugural. SCINTILLATING PERFORMANCES. Scintillating in fast performances were Chance Ray, going five-eighths in 1:01%; Rich Cream, turning the same distance in the same identical time; John Francis, speeding a half mile in :48%; Fast Move also going a half in :50, and Jay D. Bane working the regular Inaugural distance of six furlongs in 1:15. "Butsey" Hernandez breezed Prince Argo and Roidef three-quarters ■ in company in 1:21, and Radio Charm in 1:17%. Sweet Adeline and Prince Sador also breezed five-eighths, the former registering ■ in 1:05, and her stablemate in a second • slower, 1:06. The workouts of the Inaugural hopes i overshadowed the arrival of three more stables ■ during the day. R. A. Brown brought : in a trio, headed by Alergy. Dave Emery unloaded five from Columbus, including : Rosa Dear, a two-time winner at that point, and Jim Watts put away a duo of Civil War and Taxi Dancer. * Emery, who has the book on the clever apprentice, Earl Dew, said yesterday he had gotten a letter from the rider and the latter would not be here in time fox the opening. According to Emery, Dews ankle, which was hurt in a spill at New Orleans, has been giving him trouble of late, and therefore last falls riding champion may not be down for another week or ten days. PREHM CHECKS IN. The promising apprentice, Willie Prehm, checked in yesterday and reported to the Blue Ridge Stable. Prehm, who piloted a dozen winners at Hot Springs in his first meeting of his career, is expected to be one of the stars of the local riding brigade. FitzGerald is well known in these parts, having served efficiently here last year. Other commission appointments were Oscar Bachman, director of mutuels, and J. L. Stortz, veterinarian. Both served here before. Roll call has been set for 2 oclock this afternoon. All mutuel clerks who will work during the meeting will be appointed today by manager of mutuels, Whitefield Brooks. Sherry Balleras claimed Schley Nurse out of Tuesdays eighth race for 00 from Miss L. Kassner. The trainer will be M. p. Lyons.
