■ ACTIVITY AT NORTH RANDALL Grandstand Enlarged and Completely Remodeled — Entire Infield Being Leveled Off and Landscaped. CLEVELAND, Ohio, May 4.— With the opening of the first running race meeting in its thirty-year history scheduled for Saturday, May 27, North Randall is a beehive of activity these days. Work has already been completed on the grandstand, which has been completely reconditioned and enlarged. Carpenters are now busily engaged in putting a roof on the new clubhouse, which also will house the paddock. When completed, which will be within the next ten days or two weeks, the .capacity of the grandstand and clubhouse will exceed 8,500. Along the front stretch the width of the racing strip is being reduced from the 100 feet necessary for trotting races to 80 feet, which is the accepted width for running races. The-entire infield, is being leveled off and landscaped, and work is virtually completed on a new drainage canal which will make North Randall the fastest-drying track In the country. Along the back stretch, barns have been painted and reconditioned, and new ones erected. A new inner rail has been constructed. The plant will be in readiness about a week or ten days prior to the opening of the thirty-three day meeting.
