STAR BANNER, outrun early, began to move up after reaching the final half mile, was taken to the outside on the stretch turn, closed with determination under strong riding and got to the front soon after reaching the last eighth, but drew clear very slowly. CRIUS, probably best and racing wide throughout, was sent up gradually on the lower turn, was taken under snug restraint after getting to the front, lost command when his rider failed to not eSTAR BANNER racing on the outside and could not retrieve it, although ho raced well when urged in the last fifty yards. DUSKY PRINCE tired after reaching the stretch, but outstayed CHANCE STAR. The latter had speed and was nicely rated, but failed to stay when placed to a drive. INVINCIBLE had no mishaps. COLONEL ED alternated in the early pacemaking under occasional mild urging, was on the inside in the stretch and held on with determination to the end. JONNIE NUCHOLS, away very slowly, bettered his position gradually, came to the outside in the stretch and closed fast under a hard ride. MERRY PETE was under pressure after about five-eiehths and raced gamely to the final eiehth, where he tiied. LABOR DAY had no mishaps. FOR ROMANCE raced evenly after the first three-eighths. RITZ BROTHERS was practically left at the start.
