j CHURCHILL DOWNS N0TES~t John S. Wiggins, J. M. Harber and Thomas B. Cromwell made up a party from Lexington to take in Thursdays sport here. An arrival Thursday from his home in Chicago was John Marsch, who has a stable of horses here in charge of Roscoe Goose. Another prominent turf patron to get In Thursday was Ike J. Collins, who came over from Ohio with a party of relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Feeney arrived here from the Milky Way Farm in Tennessee and will remain for the Derby. Mrs. Feeney is a daughter of Mrs. Ethel V. Mars, whose Milky Way colors are to be carried in the Derby by On Location. Among the many Texans here for the Downs feature is R. B. George, master of Glad Acres Farm, near Dallas, who has a number of horses racing here. He was accompanied by his mother and two sisters. Bennett Creech reported the birth of foals to the mares Sister Mary and Ogygia at his farm in Missouri. Sister Mary has a colt by Sound Advice, and Ogygia has a filly by the same sire. Jockey Robert Finnerty has been engaged by trainer Jack Hodgins to ride the horses in the division of the Calumet Farm under his care. The horses still are at Lexington. According to word received here from Lexington, the condition of Thomas Carr Piatt was sufficiently improved to permit his removal from a hospital to his home. Piatt was stricken during the Keeneland meeting. Julius G. Reeder, well known racing official, and his wife, motored here from Cleveland and will remain over the week-end Reeder is racing secretary at North Randall* which meeting opens May 27. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Christopher and O R Farrell arrived from Miami and will remain until after the- running of the Derby. Hill Stevens, a recent recruit to the owners ranks, came over from Lexington to see Catalonia carry his colors in the fourth race. Al Jolson, stage, screen and radio star, arrived from Los Angeles and will assist in the broadcast of the Kentucky Derby.
