The Equipoise, carded for three-year-olds and upward, is the first handicap event on Arlington Parks 16-stakes program. During the 36-day summer meeting, which opens next Monday, a total of 90,000 in added money will be awarded in these races alone. Racing secretary Frank E. "Jimmy" Kil- roe, in announcing the final Equipoise list, also revealed that 32 juveniles have been named for the opening-day Primer Stakes on Monday, and 20 three-year-old fillies have been nominated for the Artful Stakes next Wednesday. Both events carry 5,000 in added money. The latter pair are jointly owned with Mrs. Harry Trotsek. Freeman Keyes* Reverie Knoll Farm, naming Smoke Screen and LeMonde, was the only other owner with more than one entry. Oil Capitol, six-year-old gray, already has three stakes wins this year — the Palm Beach, Widener and Ben Ali Handicaps. He ranks high in the list of money-winning horses of all time. Smoke Screen .has three Fair Grounds handicaps to his credit — the Le Compte, . Letellier and New Orleans. Also of national prominence among the . nominees was Mrs. Jan Burkes Squared Away, who already has accounted for the ; Paumonok at Jamaica and Belmonts Rose-s ben Handicap. ; Hill Gail will be making his third start s next Saturday since winning the 1952 Kentucky Derby.
