HURLEY Staff Correspondent RIVER DOWNS, California, Ohio,, June 17.— The strains of "My Old Kentucky Home" will be heard here tomorrow as the management honors the State of Kentucky by dedicating the entire program to the Blue Grass State, which is separated from the southern Ohio track only by the winding bends of the Ohio River. A large delegation of Kentuckians, headed by attorney J. D. Buckman and state racing commissioner Wathan Knebel-kamp, will be on hand for the afternoon racing and each race on the program has been named after sporting Kentucky cities, with Paducah, Lexington, Versailles, Louisville, Paris, Covington and the capital city of Frankfort honored. The feature race of the afternoon honors the Kentucky owners and- is for bona -fide residents of the Blue Grass State who have horses racing at River Downs. Nine Kentucky owners responded for the six-furlongs sprint, with Beeler and Shuks Lacuna the most likely to be dubbed colonel for the afternoon. Shes opposed by Helda Farms Hard Hitter, J. E. Masons Kapeika, Petersons and-Mulfingers Wave-A-Lu, A. B. Browns Proud Jack, F. M. Ashbys On Rust, C. F. Morris War Weather, E. A. Bischoffs Polly Knight and S. Waltz Harkeva. Though Lacuna seems to have all the best of this sprint off an earlier triumph at River Downs, the four-year-old daughter of Omission — Grey Nose will have the fierce pride of all Kentucky owners to contend with, as well as the speed and endurance of the animals arrayed .against her. La- cunas record oMive wins during her three- year-old career indicates her merit, though, and she is expected to bring home the Kentucky Day honors to her partner owners. The management of River Downs plans to make this Kentucky Day an annual feature attraction aimed at restoring some of the Latonia sector, when national at-f tention was focused on this triangle yearly for the high quality of the sport.
