Everett Jr. Nominated • To C. S. Howard Stakes Owner May Fly Ace Juvenile to Hollywood for Two Engagements HOLLYWOOD PARldnglewood, Calif t, . June 17. — Everett Jr., the juvenile champion this year of the Fair Grounds, Keeneland and Hawthorne meetings, today was * nominated for the 5,000 added- C. S. Howard Stakes on July 10. He already had - been named for the ,000 added Starlet Stakes, which will be run July 23, closing . day of the Hollywood Park meeting. In a telegram to racing secretary John ... Maluvius, Everett Lowrance, New Orleans fruit importer who owns the speedy colt, had this to say: "If Everett Jr. continues to run as he has in the past, we will most likely fly him out for his two engagements." Everett Jr.s record is most impressive as he has actually had seven wins and a sec- " ond for his eight starts and earnings of 2,335. However, in the Southerner Purse - on Jan. 21 at New Orleans, he was disqualified for interference and placed last. , Everett Jr., who is named for Lowrances son, is by Eternal Bull out of Beedee, and Lowrance bought him out of the Allen T. Simmons consignment at last years Keene-land yearling sales for ,800. He already has proved himself the top bargain of the sales to get to the races thus far. At the Fair Grounds he won the Duncan ~F. Kenner Stakes and the New Orleans Juvenile Purse in addition to a maiden -Tace, and in the Duncan F. Kenner he skipped the quarter mile in :22 flat. _ Moving to Keeneland he annexed the "Lafayette Stakes by three parts of a length, covering the half mile in :45%, which v equalled the Keeneland record for that distance. He raced once at Churchill Downs, finishing second behind Mr. Prosecutor, but -when the pair moved to Hawthorne he beat Jbds rival and six others to win the Joliet Stakes by eight lengths. His last start was at Hawthorne June 3 when he won the Whirlaway Purse.
