WESTERN NIGHT, steadied close to the pace, responded readily when roused, overtook the leader inside the final furlong and outfinished MIMANDAN, The latter came through along the inside to vie for the lead in the stretch and continued on gamely. HASTY HEART closed with good energy from off the pace. DANCE BAND appeared to sulk when put to pressure. OUR JAN drew into a long lead after a half-mile, shortened stride into the stretch and weakened. STARK TWINS was best of the others. KROESETTE stopped after showing speed for six furlongs. MILL POINT rallied to vie for command, but was unable to match strides with the winner. GOOD BOY opened a long lead before a half-mile, saved ground, shortened .stride and .tired, LUCKY DOG had no mishap. BIT-O-MOON dropped off the early pace, rallied mildly, but was unable to menace.
