Mais Boy Out to Repeat Recent Fairmount Score Vies With Reserve Fund, Four Other Sprinters in Alhambra By C. A. LINDEMAN Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., June 17.— Six fleet sprinters will provide the main attraction on tomorrow nights card of eight events when they meet in the Alhambra Purse at six furlongs for a ,300 purse. This race has been fashioned for three-year-olds and older horses that have not won two races since May 20th, opening night of the current meeting. Topping this small but select field appears to be the fast five-year-old sprinter Mais Boy, winner of his only start at this meeting by a length and a half in 1:06% for the five and one-half furlongs. Mais Boy will surely make a strong try for a repeat tally when he sports the silks of Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Holman against five fast opponents. This son of Sky Raider is at his peak form at this time. He left nothing in doubt when he clicked here as he took command at the start and led all the way, turning back such fast sprinters as Dividend Payer and Gay Band. This winning effort also marked his first start of the year. With his 114-pound impost he warrants the call against this small field. Melvin Duhon will again handle the reins. The Colclasure and Camp sprinter, Reserve Fund, who finished second in his last outing here at six furlongs, looms as the main threat jfor top money in the Alhambra. His last race proved his ability over the shorter routes when he was only a half length off the good sprinter Kissable in a race that was run in 1:12%. Reserve Fund closes fast in the stretch and will prove a formidable foe in this dash. His weight of 114 pounds shouldnt hinder his chances. Hot Chocolate will be out after his second victory of the current meeting when he meets Mais Boy and Reserve Fund. The seven - year - old McHenry sprinter was fourth in his last out to Kissable and Reserve Fund, but his winning race prior to that defeat was a very impressive victory as he carried 113 pounds to defeat Circulator and Not the End in 1:12% for the six furlongs. Leading rider of the meeting, apprentice Ken Griffith, will handle the McHenry colorbearer. Miss Osan, Whirling Feet and Chardan round out the field for the Alhambra, which holds down the sixth spot on the eight-race program. Post time for the first event remains the same — 8:30 — as on nights that nine events are carded.
