Laird, who is one of the pioneer photo . finish operators; he ran the first camera ever used at Santa Anita in the mid-thirties; is a native of California. Since then he has been a member of the staffs of several camera corporations. The Confirmation camera was first tested at Oaklawn Parks 1953 spring session. It was also used to photograph the finishes at Pimlico including the widely circulated picture of the Native Dancer-Jamie K. duel in the Preakness. With the Randall Park contract signed, Confirmation Cameras now has the com- plete running race circuit in the Cleveland area as it will also be employed at Thistle Downs fall meeting which opens in September.
