Tape Reader Takes Montchanin Test Downs Little Greg By Two Lengths Husman Router Timed Mile And Quarter in 2:04, Flat In Third of Distance Series By PALMER HEAGERTY Staff Correspondent DELAWARE PARK, Stantorr, Del., June 17. — Harry Husmans Tape Reader injected his name prominently in the point standings for the five-race Montchanin Handicap series this afternoon when he won the mile and one-quarter edition in the good time of 2:04, two second slower than the track record held jointly by Stymie, Cochise and Flying MisseL Having finished third in last weeks running, Tape Reader now has amassed 30 points, which puts him second behind Stop and Look, who won the first two runnings and passed up todays test due to the anticipation of a tremendous weight increase. Tape Reader, capably haridled by the veteran Jimmy Lynch, raced under 115 pounds today and reported two lengths in the van of Mrs. Alfred Roberts* Little Greg, who headed Mrs. Mary Robinsons Gay Count. Lily-Ann Stables Blacktype, winner of "two straight in New York prior to finishing second to Spy Ring in the Ascot Gold Cup, was backed into favoritism by the crowd of 15,019, but faltered badly after being in front following the first six furlongs. Tape Reader was a lukewarm hazard at 0.90. Race for Early Lead Mrs. Esther duPont Weirs Star of Persia, Joseph B. Friedlands Ginger Boots and Blacktype raced for the lead through the first six furlongs, with each having a brief stay on the front end. None of them was around when the real test came, however, faltering badly at the extended distance. After Blacktype had wilted, Little Greg forged to the front and looked all over a winner while rapidly increasing his lead. Tape Reader, however, had not as yet been allowed to fully extend himself and, when given the word by Lynch, literally flew by Little Greg. Gay Count, who had won for ,000 in his past two winning races here, closed ground steadily to outfinish Zeeland. The latter, who went into the race with 15 points, picked up an additional three points. I
