Belmont Park to Stage Red Cross Day Sept. 29 BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y„ June 17. — Today as Belmont Park closed its brilliant spring meeting, George D. Widener announced an action by the the board of directors of the Westchester Racing Association which will give one day from the autumn meeting to the American Red Cross. Widener disclosed that Tuesday, Sept. 29, had been designated as Red Cross Day and that all of Belmonts receipts then would be turned over to the famous organization. Wideners letter was sent to George A. Garrett, former ambassador to Ireland, now acting as special assistant to E. Roland Harriman, president of the American Red Cross in Washington. Garrett has been coordinating efforts to bring sports and* other public spectacles into the active support of the varied Red Cross activities.
