Ohio Notes RANDALL PARK, North Randall, Ohio, Aug. 17. .Bob Tryon, who handled the publicity at the Phoenix, Arizona tracks during the winter, paid a visit to Randall Park on Saturday. He departed for Arizona on Sunday. Apprentice William Hartack rode another triple on Saturday and now has accounted for 49 victories in the span of 24 days. Hartack is closing some ground on the national leader Willie Shoemaker, but still about 80 tallies in arrears. He is comfortably ahead of Tony DeSpirito, however, who was last years champion. Lloyd Gentry, who has one of the largest stables on the grounds, is currently leading trainer with nine victories. He is followed closely by Stanley Greene, Jr., and H. Searcy, whoboth have eight . Jockey Russell Stein packed his tack and departed for Hagerstown. Stein lost his five-pound allowance during this meeting, but won his share of races without the help of the five-pound advantage. Herbert E. Simpson augmented his local string when he purchased the two-year-old Chief Genoa at private terms from the Terrell Brothers. F. E.,FitzGerald will condition the youngster. HAMILTON, Ohio, Aug. 17. Pete Maxwell, who wound up as second leading trainer at River Downs with 12 winning horses saddled, has a large string under his care at Hamilton and will race the entire 19 days. The horses trained by Pete made he and his wife the leading money-winning owners at River Downs with 3,460 gleaned during the 44-day meet. Veteran rider Al Gaither arrived from the night racing scene at Scarborough Downs in Maine and will ride out the meeting here. Al can make 110 pounds under reducing methods. Though first post at Hamilton is not until 4:00 p. m. entries close at 10:00 a. m. Scratches and riders must be roprted by 8:30 a. m. R. B. Berini shipped the platers Djymy and Fast Cosmic down from Hazel Park for racing at Hamilton. Berini also sent the promising apprentice Steve Kovach along with the stable to handle the riding chores. George Bulcroft is back at his familiar post as the custodian of the jockeys quarters at Hamilton. George served at River Downs, Beulah Park and Sunshine Park in a similar capacity and has been connected with the official families of more than 50 race tracks during his career.
