WOOD H, a sharp factor from the start, took command before going a quarter mile, lost the lead momentarily to ALPHAS CHOICE after a half mile, then came again and, disposing of the latter, won going away. ALPHAS CHOICE, never far back, went to the front leaving the upper turn, continued willingly under brisk handling, but was unable to stay with the top one. SO FAIR lacked early speed, moved up boldly in the early stretch, but could not get to the leaders when set down in the- drive. SUN HALO finished fairly well under punishment. XMAS CHIMES failed to stay after showing early speed. WHIZ KID tired after going a half mile. REBATE showed nothing. SOUTH COVERT was far back throughout. VERANO was outrun. HOSTILE MISS, in hand to the last three-eighths mile, responded readily when set down through the stretch and wore down WAR BULLET in the last sixteenth. The latter, a keen factor from the start, entered the stretch with a short lead, held on gamely, but could not withstand the winner, although much the best of the others. OUR SUSAN failed to keep up after showing early speed. SUNNYBROOK SUE was outrun. MR. BOB tired after racing well to the stretch. STAR K. was never dangerous. LADY ADMIRAL and WAR BILL were far back throughout. .HERMAN L. WAS ORDERED WITHDRAWN AFTER SHOWING SIGNS OF LAMENESS DURING THE POST PARADE AND ALL STRAIGHT, PLACE AND SHOW WAGERS ON HIM WERE REFUNDED. ROBUST broke into FLASHY KAY at the start, moved up strongly going to the first turn and, disposing of BURGOO PLAY during the stretch run, then held KALLUKI. The latter raced evenly for a half mile, responded readily when set down in the drive, but could not overtake ROBUST. ROYCE, outrun to the last quarter mile, closed strongly under punishment. TRE TIO had no excuse. BURGOO PLAY, fractious at the post, began fast, set the pace to the final furlong, then weakened. FLASHY KAY, bumped at the break by ROBUST, failed to recover. GREEN SABER bumped BEST -DOINGS at the break, took command early and entered the stretch with a clear advantage, but was briskly ridden during the drive to withstand COUNTESS IN. The latter began fast, raced nearest GREEN SABER after the start and, although closing strongly when set down through the stretch, could not overtake the winner. SCOTCH WINE raced evenly without mishap. BEST DOINGS, forced to the inside by GREEN SABER at the start, recovered and raced evenly thereafter. FREE LUNCH was outrun. BILLS HYGRO showed nothing.
