High Scud Heads Sextet in Spokane Gives Bugledrums, Chombro Poundage Each of Trio HasOne Win This Year While Remaining Threesome Are Non-Winners WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, HI., Aug. 17. The Tuesday program of American Derby week will feature a small, but capable, field of middle-distance runners going a mile in the ,000 Spokane Purse. Highweighted in the allowance feature will be King Ranchs High Scud, with 122 His opposition will be provided by Sam E. Wilson, Jr.s, Bugledrums, D. J. Gleesons Chombro, Hasty House Farm and Mrs. Harry Trotseks Big Stretch, Charfran Stables Blenomar, and Duntreath Farms Dixie Flyer. In the featured event, High Scud must give four pounds to Chombro and Bugledrums. The four-year-old Bernborough colt ran once at the Homewood meeting and finished seventh to Jampol at a mile and one-sixteenth on the grass. Before coming here, High Scud ran third to Tom Fool in the Brooklyn Handicap. He finished out of the money in three earlier handicaps this year, and has a win and a second in allowance events. Ran Fifth in Sprint Last Week Bugledrums finished fifth to Jet Ace in a sprint affair here last week. The five-year-old son of Chance Sun will be ridden by Otto Grohs tomorrow. Early during the Arlington Park meeting he won a sprint, and followed up with a fourth to Chombro. He ran last in the Laurance Armour Memorial. Chombro finished second in the aforementioned Jet Ace victory. Al Popara gets -the assignment on the six-year-old Chic-uelo gelding, who holds a victory and twtf seconds in allowance company at Arlington. In stakes competition, Chombro was seventh in the Armour Memorial. Big Stretch gets into the feature with 115 pounds. He will be ridden by Johnny Adams, who has enjoyed a large measure of success with Hasty House-Trotsek horses. Adams finished with the five-year-old Eight Thirty gelding here two weeks ago in a mile affair won by Vantage. He rode Big Stretch. in two of four Arlington starts, and the results were a third and a fourth. The gelding breezed three furlongs in :38 over a fast strip Sunday morning. Blenomar also gets 115 pounds in the Spokane. This four-year-old Blenheim H. colt was fifth in Jampots grass win last week. He had a pair of seconds and a third against good alowance performers at Arlington. Blenomar breezed three furlongs in :36 over todays fast course. Dixie Flyer, lightweighted at 110, will be under rein to Ken Church. The six-year-old Blue Flyer mare, only distaff performer in the Spokane, finished fifth to Recline and eighth to Gala Fete in sprints at this meeting. She also showed two fifth place efforts at Arlington. Dixie Flyer breezed six furlongs in 1:20 Sunday, completing the half-mile in :53.
