Ecr! Pool and Jimmy Payne To Serve as Jockey Valets | FAIRMOTJNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., j May 5. — A pair of former jockeys have .been added to the valet list here. Today, I the stewards, headed by Ralph Choisser, representing the Illinois Racing Board, | passed on the applications of Earl Pool and Jimmy Payne. The latter, forced to quit his profession because of a riding accident a few years ago, had charge of the mail room at the New Orleans Fair Grounds. I Working in the jockey room will be a new venture for Pool.* The former sensational two-year-old rider, has left the business world to return to his favorite occupation.
