GOLDEN ARIA assumed command at once, retained a commanding advantage when settled for the stretch run and continued on gamely under a mild hand ride. HELTOP steadily improved her position on the inside to the stretch, remained next to the rail for the drive and, though unable to seriously endanger the leader, easily prevailed over the others. HAM HOCKS failed to respond sufficiently when set down for the ultimate test. SIR SIDNEY tired. TO CHALLENGE passed tiring horses. GEORGE MURPHY raced wide. S0N0SICUR0 had no apparent mishap. PICKED and DOCEDOE were always outrun. METOPIA retired steadily after flashing brief speed. VAL stopped to a walk. PHOEBES GIRL, always within striking distance, moved up v.ith a rush to attain the runner-up position entering the stretch, but was unable to overtake the winner when hard ridden through the late stages. TRIGAZA failed to properly respond when the real test came. BERrO tired. VERACITY was unable to keep up SONORA GIRL failed -to stay. HELLO RITA lacked the necessary rally. SUGAR HAM and KAW MAID had no apparent mishaps. SHOE TREE began in the first flight, then drcpocd from contention. BOUNCED and BOSSY MARY never were formidable. BY HERSELF was through early.
